Frequently Asked Questions

  • In your first session, we’ll chat about what brought you to therapy, what you want to get out of it, and anything you’re worried about. It’s really just us getting to know each other and creating a space where you can feel safe and heard. We’ll also go over how therapy works and figure out how to tackle what’s on your mind together.

  • Most therapy sessions last about 53 minutes. The last 7 minutes are usually for me to schedule your next appointment and take care of notes. How often we meet really depends on what you need and want to work on—weekly or every other week tends to work well for most people at first. We’ll figure out the schedule that fits you best during our first session.

  • Therapy can be a game-changer if you’re feeling stuck, dealing with emotional pain, or just ready to grow. It’s also a solid space to work through things like trauma, anxiety, depression, or relationship struggles. Not sure if it’s for you? No worries because the first session is a chance to see if we click and if therapy feels right.

  • Yes! I work with Headway for billing, which makes it easy to submit claims through your insurance. Headway will give you an estimate of your costs before our first session, but it’s important that you double-check your coverage and any out-of-pocket expenses with your insurance provider.

  • If you don’t have insurance or are out of network, I do offer a self-pay option ($100). Headway (my billing service) will handle the payment after each session, and you’ll get an invoice for your records. I also have a few sliding scale spots available—just ask if you want to learn more.

  • Confidentiality is a cornerstone of therapy. What you share with me stays private and protected by law, except in a few specific situations, including:

    • If you’re at risk of seriously harming yourself

    • If there’s a credible threat of serious harm or death to someone else

    • If there’s reasonable suspicion of abuse or neglect involving children under 18 or elderly individuals

    • If a court orders me to share information through a valid subpoena

    • If you’re in therapy or treatment by court order, or if I’m asked to provide an expert report for legal purposes

    • If you sign a release of information form allowing me to share details

  • Life happens, I get it. If you need to cancel or reschedule, just give me a heads-up at least 24 hours before our session to avoid a cancellation fee ($40).

  • If therapy with me doesn’t feel like the right fit at any point, you’re always free to explore other options. I’m happy to support you with referrals if needed. Your comfort and progress come first.
