Immigration Psychosocial Evaluations
-
Navigating an immigration matter can involve sharing deeply personal experiences. I provide immigration psychosocial evaluations with an approach centered on dignity, cultural responsiveness, and emotional safety throughout the evaluation process.
Discussing immigration experiences, family circumstances, violence, trauma, loss, or other difficult experiences can feel overwhelming. Evaluations are approached with sensitivity to each person's cultural background, lived experiences, and individual needs.
Clients may request breaks, ask questions, and communicate when they need additional time during the evaluation process. My role is to provide an objective clinical assessment while treating each person with dignity and respect.
-
An immigration psychosocial evaluation is a clinical assessment that explores relevant psychological, emotional, and psychosocial factors related to an immigration matter.
Depending on the referral question and individual circumstances, the evaluation may include comprehensive clinical interviews, assessment of psychological symptoms and functioning, relevant history, strengths and coping, standardized measures when appropriate, and review of relevant supporting records.
Following the evaluation, a comprehensive written clinical report is prepared. With appropriate written authorization, the report may be provided to the client’s immigration attorney.

Evaluations are conducted in English. I have conversational Spanish proficiency and can communicate with and understand Spanish-speaking clients; however, to support clinical accuracy and professionalism, a qualified interpreter may be used when a client is more comfortable completing the evaluation in Spanish.
Language preferences and interpreter needs are discussed during the initial consultation.
